STRUCTURE IMAGES by J.R. Steine

County Building

( Gordon A. Howe County Office Building )

This is an amazing building, situated on West Main Street in downtown Rochester. J. Foster Warner designed this building back in the 1890's. Inside everything around you is practically constructed of marble and the decorative spiral staircases are still in use, for those who'd rather skip the elevator. Unfortunately this image loses a lot of its detail at such a small display size, but a full 8x10 shot is amazing.

Wooden Cross

( wooden crucifix ) - ( wooden grave marker )

This is rather self-explanatory...it's a wooden cross. As one would expect it is located in a graveyard. I found it interesting that the trees in the background looked as though were holding the cross up. There had been some rain that week, which had obviously softened the ground and forced the cross to lean to the side.

Courtyard

( Charlotte Beach courtyard ) - ( Lake Avenue courtyard )

I do not know exactly what the purpose is of this building with the fenced in courtyard, but it made for a nice photo. Probably used for hosting events, but on that day it was locked up. This courtyard is located within viewing distance of the beach, right across from the Penny Arcade and rests not too far from where the Rochester Fast Ferry, "The Cat" is docked.

Train Wheel

( mechanical wheel on train ) - ( old train car )

This is one shot of several that I took of a rusty old boxcar. This pic stands out from the rest, but I do plan on posting the other train photos in due time. They'll be placed in the "Transport" category when added.

Lockout 1

( large rusty safe ) - ( junkyard combination safe )

I thought my wildest dreams came true! Of course dreaming is a waste of time and so would be opening this safe. This gargantuan combination safe was found nestled between other large pieces of scrap at a junkyard. One mans trash is another mans empty treasure box I guess.

Lockout 2

( large rusty safe ) - ( junkyard combination safe )

Here's a great shot detailing the deterioration of the combination safe. Behind the safe are some highly corroded construction beams and some old lumber. It's hard to tell exactly what the original color of the safe was, but I think it looks far more interesting in its current state.

Building Crane

( large construction crane ) - ( giant crane )

Some will love this pic, yet others will despise it after they find out what building is being constructed. Anyhow I took this photo a few years ago during a leisurely stroll through the City of Rochester. Unfortunately this is another pic that loses its overall detail at such a small display size. You can see that this building crane is being used to lift some hefty materials to further the construction, of every criminal's favorite spot...a brand new jail! A great visual representation of our tax dollars at work.

Exchange St.

( Rochester office buildings ) - ( Rochester apartment buildings )

Walking around Exchange Street, in the City of Rochester, I snapped this photo of an old brick building, which is across the street from a newer high rise. Off to the right you can see a slightly deteriorated white building and a cool apple green one. I really like the age and color diversity showcased in this shot.
